What is
Performance Therapy?
Breakaway Performance Therapy is an active approach to overcoming painful ailments and improving athletic performance. Whether you play and organized sport or just an avid lifter or fitness enthusiast, this model is designed for you. If you work out every day you don’t need to come to therapy every day, you just need a guide to help you do the right things in order to help you overcome your pain. If you are someone that has pain with activity, but feel traditional physical therapy didn’t help you then this is your place. You will be seen by a Doctor of Physical Therapy that understands working out, proper loading and shares a passion for fitness with you.
For athletes, performance therapy will help you confidently return to your sport following a surgery or injury. Table exercises, modalities and body weight exercises just do not cut it. In order to return to sport successfully you need to challenge your body in a way that is relevant to your sport. This includes strength training, agility drills, deceleration exercises, stability and hand eye coordination drills. During most sports you are moving while also visually tracking an object, opponent or both. You may be able to move fine when that is your focus, but during a game the proper movement should become automatic so that you can focus on your sport. This also helps overcome the fear of reinjury because you get to simulate game type movements before actually playing.
